Education: Mr. Brockett earned his B.S. degree from Arkansas Tech University, his J.D. degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law and his LL.M. degree in taxation from the University of Miami School of Law. Biography: Christopher D. Brockett was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on March 20, 1979. Mr. Brockett attended Springdale High School until his junior year, when he moved to Ozark. He graduated from Ozark High School with honors in 1997. He then enrolled in Westark Community College (now known as University of Arkansas Fort Smith) and earned his Associate of Arts Degree. He then transferred to Arkansas Tech University ("ATU") in Russellville, Arkansas and completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Management/Marketing in December 2001. He also received a minor in Economics/Finance. While at ATU, Mr. Brockett was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order Social Fraternity and served as its historian for the 1999-2000 school year. Mr. Brockett then enrolled at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law ("UALR") beginning in August 2002. In law school, Mr. Brockett was a member of the Federalist Society and served as the vice president for the 2003-2004 school year. During his second year of law school, Mr. Brockett participated in the UALR Tax Legal Clinic, where as a student practitioner he had the opportunity to represent indigent clients in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service. In the Summer of 2004, Mr. Brockett was accepted to the University of Miami School of Law's ("UM") joint JD/LLM program. He was the first student admitted to the joint JD/LLM degree program that was not a student of the University of Miami School of Law. This program allowed Mr. Brockett to complete his JD and his LLM programs in only three (3) years. He graduated from UM in May 2005 and returned to Arkansas to practice law. From June 2005- June 2008, Mr. Brockett worked at the Little Rock law firm Hyden, Miron & Foster, PLLC. His practice areas included structuring estate and gift planning for individuals and entire families, structuring business planning for large and small corporate entities, corporate entity formation, structuring the buying and selling of business both asset and stock sales, handling federal and state tax controversies for both individuals and corporate entities, and helping clients through the probate process. In 2007, Mr. Brockett became an adjunct professor at UALR. He teaches the advanced course of Partnership Taxation and Advanced Federal Income Taxation. In July 2008, Mr. Brockett joined the firm of Jack Nelson Jones Jiles & Gregory, P.A. (formerly known as Jack Nelson Jones Fink Jiles & Gregory, P.A.). Mr. Brockett continued to concentrate his practice in the estate planning, business planning, business formation, mergers and acquisitions, tax controversy and probate matters. He also assisted the firm in various bond and lease transactions. In August 2009, Mr. Brockett followed Eugene G. Sayre, a 22 year member of Jack Nelson Jones, and started his own firm. He is now associated with the professional association Hatfield and Sayre, which consists of Richard F. Hatfield and Mr. Sayre . He continues to focus his practice in the areas estate planning, business planning, business formation, mergers and acquisitions, tax controversy and probate matters. He will also assist Mr. Hatfield in the areas of probate and trust litigation and assist Mr. Sayre in the areas of Federal and Arkansas tax litigation. Mr. Brockett has also spoke at numerous seminars on the subjects of Mergers and Acquisitions, Buying and Selling your Business, Business Planning, the Probate Process and Estate Planning. He most recently was a speaker for the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants in September 2009. Family: Mr. Brockett is married to Susan Brockett, who is also an attorney in Little Rock, who focuses her practice in the main area of estate planning. They have a daughter, Sydney, and a son named Sebastian. The family resides in Little Rock. The Brocketts are members of Christ the King Catholic Church. Hobbies/Talents/Interests: Mr. Brockett enjoys target shooting, playing softball, watching NFL football. He is an avid reader, and especially enjoys reading in the areas of American History and the Civil War. |
